KATU Channel 2 News: Local company makes heavy-duty deliveries - by bike

The B-Line delivery service in Portland isn't your typical bike messenger service, which is fitting in bike-crazy Portland. Some might say it's even a little... weird.

This is no high-speed messenger service with hipster riders whipping through traffic on single-speed custom bikes. B-Line couriers pedal electrically-assisted three-wheeled trikes with a capacity to haul up to 800 pounds.

The specialty-made trikes use bike lanes to get around the city and tote their loads in large covered boxes to protect the cargo from the elements. They get a bit of a boost on hills from an on-board electric motor...
